This course that supports a proportion of independent project work. It consists of coursework activities which include individually designed projects. A feature of the program is the opportunity for students to produce a body of practical work within their particular discipline and with relevance to their own interests. It also offers students the opportunity to participate in the continuing contemporary debate about research issues within art practice and to acquire skills necessary for the production of the studio projects. Graduates will significantly advance their standing as visual arts professionals and have either an extensive portfolio of industry-relevant and recognized leading edge skills and knowledge or the qualifications and capability to enter into research higher degree studies.

Students should have completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum Grade Point Average of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale) or hold a Graduate Certificate in a related discipline with a minimum Grade Point Average of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale). International students whose native is not English should have an IELTS score of 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5 or a TOEFL score of 550.

This campus encompasses the Queensland College of Art, Griffith Film School and the Queensland Conservatorium, is renowned for excellence in the creative and performing arts and is steadily building a reputation in postgraduate and executive education through the Griffith Graduate Centre. Ideally located in Brisbane's picturesque South Bank Parklands, the campus is only a 10-minute walk from the Brisbane CBD and is adjacent to the Queensland Art Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art, the State Library, Museum, Performing Arts Complex and the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre. Students can access welfare, counseling and other support services and apply for residential accommodation at the Mt Gravatt and Nathan campuses.

The campus provides on-campus accommodation for 950 students. The Colleges are conveniently positioned on the Nathan and Mt Gravatt campuses, close to the bus way and the city. South Bank campus (QCA and the Conservatorium) is only 11 minutes away by bus. As well as the convenient location, there are many benefits to living in a Griffith College including parties, social and sporting events and support with their studies. Students living in Griffith's Colleges also get discounts at the gyms and food outlets. Accommodation at the Gold Coast campus is operated by Griffith University Village. Home stay is accommodation offered to international students by families who live within commuting distance of Griffith University. Home stay enables students to gain an insight into Australian life and offers a unique opportunity to experience Australian culture first hand by participating in the daily routine of the host family's life.
