This program will provide students with advanced academic and professional research skills. The program aims to train students in analysing the literature, relevant artefacts and debate in the substantive area of the thesis topic at an advanced level; research methodology and techniques and their critical evaluation, appropriate to the field of study; and the application of such methodology by conducting a specified program of research under appropriate supervision.

Students must hold an Honours degree or a Bachelors degree with honours in an appropriate discipline; or a Bachelors degree and a preliminary course of study of honours standard; or an appropriate Masters degree; or have other qualifications, professional experience or published research work that provide evidence of the ability to undertake advanced research appropriate to the proposed Masters degree by research program. International students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission: International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test - a minimum overall score of 7.0 with a minimum score of 7.0 in Writing and Speaking sub scores and 6.5 in Reading and Listening sub scores; or TOEFL equivalent; or a tertiary qualification completed in Australia within the last two years at an acceptable academic level. Students are required to meet at least one of the English language entry requirements listed. IELTS 7.0, TOEFL PBT 600 with TWE of 5.0, TOEFL iBT 100 with no band less than 20, Cambridge CPE C, Cambridge CAE 67 (no less than Borderline in RW), CELUSA AE4, Pearson PTE Academic Bands below as per the Pearson equivalency table 74 with no communicative score less than 68.
