This program is aimed at producing graduates interested in and capable of dealing with the macro aspects of the construction industry, and intervening on its structural characteristics by working for government, institutional bodies or industry groups. The program objectives: understand the role of the construction industry in social, economic and regional development; evaluate the influence of government decisions on industrial conditions, potential and output; analyse the effectiveness of policy tools in bringing about change or implementing visions; outline industrial restructuring strategies. Graduates are expected to work with general construction companies, quantity surveying organisations, project management firms, trade specialists and specialised consultants, institutional bodies and research institutions.

The Selection Committee will evaluate the applicant's ability to pursue the course successfully using the following criteria - completion of the Bachelor of Planning and Design (Property and Construction) at the University of Melbourne between 2005 and 2010; or an undergraduate degree in a cognate area with a weighted average of at least 65 per cent in the final two years, or equivalent. International applicants must fulfill the following English language requirements: IELTS (academic English only) score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL (paper-based test) score of 577 plus TWE 4.5; TOEFL (computer-based test) score of 233 plus 4.5 essay rating; TOEFL (internet-based test) score of 90 plus no band less than 21.
