This program in Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) offers professional training in the main areas of media production and an advanced education in the history and theory of the field. Core studies will focus on digital media production and consumption, the structure of the media and communications industries, the media's role in culture and politics, globalisation and legal and ethical issues in the field. They can explore these areas through a diverse array of disciplinary perspectives and relevant critical theories, allowing them to develop professional skills in the fields of print, radio, video, online media and media relations. In their fourth year they will undertake an industry internship. Graduates can find careers in fields such as marketing, advertising, editing, public relations, industrial relations, management, sales, tourism, administration, public service, and community work.

Students must hold requires an honours degree with first or second class honours. They must satisfy IELTS minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band or TOEFL minimum result of 600 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in writing or IBT minimum result of 100 overall including a minimum result of 22 in reading, listening and speaking and 23 in writing.

The Camperdown campus is the home to the faculties of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, Architecture, Arts, Economics and Business, Education and Social Work, Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Veterinary Science. Also located on this campus is the University's Centre for English Teaching. This campus has sports ovals and centres, museums, galleries, two major complexes devoted to student recreation and services.

Accomodation options that are available in this campus are University owned accommodation, Residential colleges, Sydney University Village, STUCCO student cooperative living. International House is the only University owned residential college. It offers both catered and self-catered options. The Student Housing Unit manages Darlington House, the Terraced Housing and Selle House. Darlington House accommodates 54 students in 12 male-only or female-only self-contained apartments in a modern apartment building. The Terraced Housing consists of single and twin-shared bedrooms in 43 terraced houses located near the University. Low cost accommodation, subsidised by the University, is offered in Selle House and several terraced houses. This accommodation caters to students on a very low budget. Students will only be eligible if they are an Australian Citizen or a Resident and receive a Centrelink benefit. Sydney University Village offers self-catering apartments to enrolled students. Located in Newtown, about ten minutes walk from the university, STUCCO is a housing co-operative for full-time, low income students who are Australian residents. Affiliated with, but not owned by the University, it accommodates 38 students in eight apartments. Off campus accommodation is available in student residence or hostel.
