This course is designed as a graduate entry program in theology which provides a comprehensive education in theology comparable in breadth and depth to the Bachelor of Theology, but more rigorous in its academic requirements. It requires 216 credit points (24 units) for completion. The award provides a systematic and comprehensive study of theology and related disciplines through a structure of majors and sub-majors. Not all majors and sub-majors are available at NTC itself, but in most cases students can complete the necessary units through another Member Institution of the SCD.

Admission to the this course is normally on the basis of holding a three-year degree from an accredited Australian tertiary institution or equivalent. Applicants who hold an SCD Graduate Certificate in Arts will receive credit of 36cp, but must return the GradCertArts upon graduation from the MDiv. Applicants who hold an SCD Graduate Diploma of Arts will receive credit of 72cp, but must return the GradDipArts upon graduation from the MDiv. Applicants who hold an SCD Master of Arts will receive credit of 108cp, but must return the MA upon graduation from the MDiv. Applicants who have completed some studies in a comparable graduate program at another accredited institution may be admitted with up to a maximum of 72 credit points. Applicants whose entry qualifications were obtained in an institution where English is not the language of instruction normally will be required to demonstrate competency in English by an IELTS (or equivalent) result of 7.0 in all bands of the test and may be required to attend such English language courses as prescribed by NTC.
