This course consists of 64 points (or the equivalent of eight 8-point subjects) including two compulsory education subjects, namely, EER504 Education as a Profession in the 21st Century (which must be undertaken in the first session of study) and EEB503 Reflecting on Education as a Profession in the 21st Century (which must be undertaken in the final session of study). Students must also complete a minimum of 32 points (or the equivalent of four 8-point subjects) from the Contemporary Literacies specialization as shown below and a further 16 points (or the equivalent of two 8-point subjects).

Students must hold the degree of Bachelor of Education from CSU or another tertiary institution (the Faculty normally accepts three year tertiary qualifications) or be a graduate from a degree course or approved diploma course of CSU and hold the Graduate Diploma of Education, Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) (or their equivalent) from CSU or another tertiary institution or must possess other qualifications deemed to be equivalent by the Faculty. They should satisfy English language requirement an Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System) overall score of at least 6.0, and with no score below 5.5; a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) paper-based score of 550 and TWE of 5.0; a TOEFL computer-based score of 213 and Essay Rating of 5; a TOEFL internet-based score of 80 for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs, and 90 for postgraduate research candidates with a minimum score of 25 in the writing section.
