This specialisation is designed to meet the needs of teachers, coordinators, text and curriculum developers and lecturers at all levels, who seek to increase their understanding of recent developments in teaching, assessment, curriculum and research in science and mathematics education. It is also targeted at teachers and other educators who wish to gain higher qualifications and research expertise in science and mathematics education.

Applicants must hold an approved three-year bachelors degree in a relevant field with a credit average in the final year; or an approved fourth year of study; or an approved four year bachelors degree; or have qualifications or experience that the faculty considers to be equivalent to, or a satisfactory substitute for the above. Applicants should also demonstrate their English language proficiency with a minimum overall IELTS test score of at least 7.0 with individual band scores required at 6.5 for Reading, 6.5 for Listening, 7.0 for Writing and 7.0 for Speaking. In the internet-based TOEFL, an overall score of at least 100 with at least 25 in the written and speaking section and at least 22 in the reading and listening section.
