This course is targeted to meet the needs of teachers who wish to become teacher librarians, and practicing teacher librarians without a full specialist qualification in teacher librarianship. The changing nature of schools and education has brought a growing demand for a wide range of information resources and for guidance and support in the effective use of these resources within the curriculum. Teacher librarians are meeting that demand by providing effective access to information resources and services, playing a vital role in facilitating the management and use of information within teaching and learning, leading in the development of information literacy, and managing people and resources.

Students must have the following qualifications: hold a Bachelor degree in Education or hold a Graduate Diploma of Education or Bachelor of Teaching (graduate entry) or possess other qualifications deemed to be equivalent by the Faculty. They should satisfy English language requirement an Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System) overall score of at least 6.0, and with no score below 5.5; a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) paper-based score of 550 and TWE of 5.0; a TOEFL computer-based score of 213 and Essay Rating of 5; a TOEFL internet-based score of 80 for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs, and 90 for postgraduate research candidates with a minimum score of 25 in the writing section.
