This program consists of multiple strands that extend the clinical and research knowledge of registered nurses and other health professionals for specialty practice. Graduates of this program are prepared for positions of leadership within the nursing and the wider health care system. The emphasis of the program is on entry to practice specialization including professional development and research preparations. Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will be recognized for their expertise and ability to apply multi-disciplinary knowledge and skills in health and will have the ability to analyze critique and synthesize advanced practice in health. They will possess high levels of skill in the following areas: oral and written communication, developed through essays, debates and presentations; problem-solving, analysis and critical evaluation developed through literature analyses, case studies, clinical challenges and examinations; information literacy developed through reviews of the literature, research and web quests, application of IT software; leadership, team work and decision making developed through a core course and ethical standards developed through tutorials, clinical challenges and examinations, and exploration of the research process. Graduates undertaking the research pathway will have a well-founded research skills training. In addition, through their research dissertation, they will demonstrate an ability to identify structure and undertake research that expands the body of knowledge about a particular aspect of health.

Students should have completed a bachelor degree or equivalent from a registered tertiary institution with a GPA of 5.0 on a 7.0 scale in a professional health practice discipline or equivalent and registration with a appropriate with a professional registering body in Australia or their country of origin is required. International students whose native is not English should have an IELTS score of 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5 or a TOEFL score of 550.
