In collaboration with the National Measurement Institute and the National Association of Testing Authorities Australia, the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences offers this Master program to train and equip graduates with the familiarity and understanding of the increasingly stringent rules and requirements in advanced chemical laboratory quality assurance and management. The program provides practical experience and knowledge in chemical analysis increasingly demanded by prospective employers in commercial testing laboratories. A degree program suitable for laboratory managers, supervisors and analysts involved in any measurement science. The program was developed in collaboration with the National Measurement Institute and the National Association of Testing Authorities, the two national authorities in measurement science in Australia. Key units of study in analytical measurement uncertainty, analytical method validation and laboratory quality systems, supported by a range of advanced units in chemistry, biotechnology and statistics. This course is suitable for the students who are practicing analytical chemists, laboratory supervisors and/or laboratory managers. Career opportunities: Chemical measurements are essential in many different fields such as environmental, geology, medicine, biology. Important decisions are often based on these measurements, for example, whether food is suitable for consumption, goods can be sold, how a patient should be treated. In addition, chemical measurements are often mandatory in support of legislation (related to health care and trade), production processes and social problems.

Students should have Bachelor degree in related field or other tertiary qualifications combined with relevant work experience. They should also have IELTS (Academic English only); Minimum score of 6.5 overall, with 6.0 in each section; TOEFL (paper based test); Minimum score of 570 overall, with 53 Listening, 52 Reading, 59 Structure/ Written Expression, 4.5 TWE; TOEFL (internet based test); Minimum score of 90 overall, with 20 Listening, 20 Reading, 22 Writing, 20 Speaking.
