This double degree program provides a blend of specialist, professionally focused study in landscape architecture, with the opportunity to explore the dynamic interdisciplinary field of digital design. Graduates will apply digital design approaches - such as generative and data-driven techniques and digital fabrication - in a landscape design context. The Master of Landscape Architecture is a graduate course designed to provide entry into the Landscape Architecture profession. The course has a unique emphasis on Canberra as a landscape laboratory where real-world projects and speculative design scenarios are critically interrogated and explored. The Master of Digital Design will ground students in the practices and principles of digital design. Digital design is defined here as a practice that engages with and critically applies digital processes, digital materials, and digital contexts. Students will gain technical, cultural and creative illiteracies and skills that can be applied directly to their landscape practice, while also offering scope for innovation and experimentation. Areas of focus will include computational design and generative techniques; data visualisation and design; and rich interactions between physical and digital systems. The program further focuses on three linked themes with local significance, but global relevance: the changing nature of the public sphere; the question of urban space; and the urgent challenge of sustainability.

Students must have an undergraduate degree in landscape architecture from an Australian tertiary institution, or equivalent, and submission of a portfolio of design and/or creative practice. In addition they should have fulfilled English language requirements with minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (academic) or equivalent.
