The Master of Screenwriting is a practice-based graduate coursework degree taking eighteen months of full-time study. On completion of the course students will have developed screenwriting skills for national and international screenwriting industries; become confident with writing and rewriting screenplays; demonstrated an ability to develop concepts and ideas into screenplays; gained experience in giving and receiving critical feedback; developed craft skills needed for employment in the film, television and allied industries; demonstrated skills in research methodology for writers; and have accomplished a high standard second or third draft of a feature length screenplay or television bible and script.

Applicants must have either an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification, with a GPA of 65 per cent over the last two years of study; or at least five years of documented relevant work experience related to film and television, with evidence of artistic ability and achievement or practice comparable to that expected of undergraduate degree holders in relevant disciplines. International applicants must fulfill the following English language requirements: IELTS (academic English only) score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL (paper-based test) score of 577 plus TWE 4.5; TOEFL (computer-based test) score of 233 plus 4.5 essay rating; TOEFL (internet-based test) score of 79 (writing 21, speaking 18, reading 13 and listening 13); Pearson Test of English (academic) score of 58-64 inclusive and no communicative skill below 50.
