The Master of Transnational Arts is a graduate coursework degree in interdisciplinary studies. Transnational denotes a more complex relation to the world than the terms ‘global’, ‘international’ and ‘multinational’. In this sense, the Master of Transnational Arts degree does not seek to impose a generic arts practice, rather it acknowledges and draws upon aesthetic, material and ethical practices, customs and protocols at local and regional levels. It generates dialogue between the individual artist and broader contexts. After successful completion of the first year of study students will be eligible to apply to transfer to a research Master degree. After the successful completion of two years students will be eligible to apply for a coursework doctorate. The Graduate Diploma of Transnational Arts is an exit qualification within the Master of Transnational Arts for those who have successfully completed the first year (100 points of the course).

Applicants must have completed a relevant three-year undergraduate degree from an Australian University with an average of 70 per cent in the cognate major (or equivalent); emerging visual or performing arts or film-based practice of at least 3 years demonstrated via folio of work and interview. International applicants must fulfill the following English language requirements: IELTS (academic English only) score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL (paper-based test) score of 577 plus TWE 4.5; TOEFL (computer-based test) score of 233 plus 4.5 essay rating; TOEFL (internet-based test) score of 79 (writing 21, speaking 18, reading 13 and listening 13); Pearson Test of English (academic) score of 58-64 inclusive and no communicative skill below 50.
