This program enables students to complete the equivalent of fourth year honours with a research component and obtain a recognised qualification; obtain an adequate basis for pursuing advanced studies in public policy at masters or PhD level; develop a specialist understanding of specific areas of study, showing an understanding of the latest research directions; develop a capacity for an advanced level of analysis in relation to the specific issues in public policy.

The Selection Committee will evaluate the applicant’s ability to pursue successfully the course using the following criteria: they must possess an undergraduate degree with a major in political science or cognate discipline and a grade average of at least H2B (70 per cent) or equivalent in the major or a Graduate Diploma in Arts (Political Science) with a grade average of at least H2B (70 per cent) or equivalent in the course. International applicants must fulfill any one of the following English language requirements: IELTS (academic English only) score of 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0); or TOEFL (paper-based test) score of 577 plus TWE 4.5, TOEFL (computer-based test) score of 233 plus 4.5 essay rating and TOEFL (internet-based test) score of 79 (writing 21, speaking 18, reading and listening 13 each); or Pearson Test of English (academic) score of 58-64 inclusive and no communicative skill below 50.
