This program is designed to develop economic reasoning, quantitative skills and provide institutional knowledge required by financial economists to solve practical problems arising in finance. It provides a challenging opportunity to combine statistics and mathematics with in-depth studies from a range of economics units. It is recommended if they have a good grounding in mathematics; like to develop a deep understanding of how money drives and affects economies of the world; wish to develop analytical tools from the fields of mathematics, statistics, economics and econometrics, together with institutional knowledge required to work as a financial economist. It prepares students for a career as a financial economist in government or finance including, investment or commercial banking, risk management, research, fund management or securities trading. It is also suitable for careers in business consultancy, general management or accountancy. It also provides a sound basis for further studies in the fields of economics, finance or business.

The modules in year 1 includes 02 Introduction to Economics, 24 Principles of Banking and Finance, 04a Statistics 1 (half unit), 04b Statistics 2 (half unit), 05a Mathematics 1 (half unit), 05b Mathematics 2 (half unit); year 2: 66 Microeconomics (02 + 05a), 65 Macroeconomics (02 + 05a), 20 Elements of econometrics [02 + ( 04a or 04b ) + ( 05a or 05b )], 116 Abstract Mathematics (05a + 05b); year 3: 142 Quantitative Finance (20 + 66), 115 Monetary Economics (65), 32 Management Science Method (04a + 05a), (select one): 120 Mathematical Economics (05a + 05b + 66), 95 Further Mathematics for Economists (05a + 05b).

अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय विद्यार्थीहरू प्रवेशको लागि आवश्यकता

Applicants must attain 17 years of age as of 1 September of the year of admission. They should have 2 'a' level passes at h2 level and 3 'o' level passes including English language C6 and above. Those who do not meet the 'O' level mathematics requirement may apply and maths bridging course with Stansfield College to fulfill the requirement. They should have score of 580 (or 237 on the computer base) in TOEFL plus TWE with a score of 4.5 (or a writing rating of 4.5). Alternatively an internet based TOEFL (iBt) score of 92, at least 22 in both reading and writing skills sub-tests and at least 20 in both speaking and listening skills sub-tests. They should have an overall score of at least 6 with a minimum of 5.5 in each of the four sub-tests of IELTS.
