This programme aims to prepare nurses to be safe and competent practitioners. Through the acquisition of knowledge and skills, registered nurses develop critical, analytical, and reflective skills to deliver quality care that will improve patient outcomes. They will be prepared to work with other healthcare professionals in various healthcare settings. Therefore, this programme provides a broad foundation in nursing, humanities, biological and social sciences, which are essential for preparing safe and professional nurses. In addition, the programme is designed to provide a foundation for graduate education in nursing. This programme follows the National University of Singapore's modular system. Students usually enrol in four modules each semester. They receive important fundamental knowledge from a range of disciplines including nursing, sciences, and the social sciences and they also acquire and apply nursing skills in a simulated clinical laboratory on campus. Around 35 per cent of the programme involves learning in a range of clinical practice settings (such as hospitals and community clinics). Once registered with the SNB, graduates can specialise in any number of clinical areas, including paediatrics, aged care, critical care, accident and emergency, mental health, gerontology and oncology nursing. Career tracks in hospitals and health care agencies in management, clinical and education, teaching and research in university and other career options such as educator,manager, policymaker, clinical trial coordinator, health promotion, school nurse, researcher entrepreneur, advanced practice, community health, global outreach health care.

The modules are: NUR4101: Evidence based Health Care Practice; NUR4102: Consolidated Clinical Practice; NUR4103: Applied Research Methods; NUR4104 Honours Project in Nursing.

To be eligible to apply for admission, applicants need to present one of the following: Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' level certificate: applicants should satisfy the subject pre-requisites which require a pass in any two of the following at H2 Level - biology, chemistry, physics, computing and mathematics; or a diploma from a polytechnic in Singapore; applicants who are holders of some specified diplomas may be granted advanced placement; or equivalent international qualifications - a HL pass in an International Baccalaureate, in any two of the following subjects biology, chemistry, physics, computing and mathematics are required; NUS High School qualifications - major CAP of at least 2.0 in any two of the following subjects biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. Once admitted, the following categories of applicants will be required to take the University administered Qualifying English Test (QET): students who obtained a grade of C5 and below in General Paper (GP) in the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' level or Cambridge HSC examinations conducted in English; students who have taken GP in any non-English medium examinations; or students who have not taken GP at all. Applicants presenting an acceptable diploma from a polytechnic in Singapore can apply. Applicants who are holders of some specified diplomas may be granted advanced placement.
