This course focus is not about serving in a shop, superstore or retail outlet. It is about managing in the retail / business sector. Students will learn specialist retail subjects, core business subjects, and research principles and applications. Their career could take many paths, managing people, suppliers, e-commerce, marketing consumer behaviour, buying strategy, product development, customer service, innovation and many other opportunities. The programme objective includes: to understand the retail industry and the influence of both consumers and micro and macro influences that shape the industry; to understand the role of different cultures in shaping national, regional and global retail business practice; to develop in graduates, both within the retailing curriculum and in the context of their degree programme, a range of transferable skills appropriate to employers needs; to analyse the retail business environment and adopt innovative approaches to the development of retail business. Graduates will have the skills and knowledge to seek management trainee, junior management or supervisory positions in any business establishment. Possible careers in this field are in Product Manager, Retail Manager, Retail Buyer, Small Business Owner.

Applicants must be at least 19 years of age and should have relevant EASBTM Advanced Diploma or relevant Polytechnic Diploma or an equivalent academic qualification, and they should demonstrate their proficiency in English language with minimum EASBTM / ETEDP Level 3 / IELTS score of 6.0 / TOEFL score of 550.

East Asia Institute of Management’s rise to current prominence as one of Singapore‘s Top Private Education organization, began 25 years ago in 1984 was founded in 2001. As a training and consultancy outfit back then, dedicated to the provision of trained IT software professionals for the Republic's burgeoning IT industry, the success of this pioneering endeavor quickly led to the company's expansion into Information Technology and Management (ITM) Associates in 1989, in tandem with, and response to, the upgrading of the national economy into a high-tech and high value-adding economy. The Balestier campus is among the largest single location private education facility in Singapore, with a land area of 18,000 sq metres and built-up area of more than 37,000 sq metres. It is also fully equipped to meet the learning and recreational needs of up to 6,000 enrolled students. New state-of-the-art facilities will include 60 classrooms and mini-lecture theatres; one students’ learning centre; library; one computer and language laboratory; videoconference room; admin office floor; postgraduate resource centre; hospitality training centre; multi-purpose hall; two badminton courts; three basketball courts; one cricket pitch; two tennis courts; a running track; a fitness gym; and a pool and games room. Besides the new Balestier campus, EASB has plans for another campus in Henderson with a capacity for 2,500 enrolled students. It will be used to house the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) Asia Campus in Singapore. With a widely expanded portfolio of programmes, solid infrastructure of regional offices, an up-to-date fully equipped campus, a newly established hostel facility and the accumulated managerial expertise of private sector education, EASB is poised for a new phase of rapid growth.
