This programme is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in various insurance, financial, and risk management areas as an actuarial professional. It provides a solid and thorough grounding in modern actuarial skills. Students will receive an all-rounded training, ranging from traditional actuarial mathematics, statistics, to financial economics. Through the University’s exemption agreement with the Institute of Actuaries (UK), students also have the opportunity to obtain exemptions for core technical subjects, which form an important and foundational part of the requirements to qualify as an actuary. The uniqueness of both the curriculum design and exemption opportunity has attracted numerous bright and intelligent students, both local and overseas, to undertake this major over the past fifteen years.

Modules include BA211 Models, BA215 Statistical Modelling, BA218 Mathematics of Finance, BA220 Actuarial Economics, BA309 Life Contingencies and Demography, BA212 Actuarial Computing, BA322 Actuarial Statistics, BA323 Actuarial Aspects of Asset Valuation, BA219 Principles of Risk and Insurance, BA324 Insurer Operations and Financial Analyses, BA326 Analysis of General Insurance, BA334 Actuarial Management.

अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय विद्यार्थीहरू प्रवेशको लागि आवश्यकता

Students must have completed at least 12 years of general education or will be taking Year 12 national examinations in the year of application, in order to be considered for admission. They shoukld have Additional Mathematics at Junior High School Level/Mathematics at IB Standard Level. Submission of IELTS, TOEFL and SAT1 scores are optional except for students with PRC Gao Kao qualification (i.e. students who will be taking Gao Kao in June 2010 and those who have already taken Gao Kao). Scores should be obtained three years prior to the application deadline.
