This programme aims at developing well-rounded individuals who are schooled in a range of diverse subject areas. This track was launched in 2008 under the Bachelor of Business Management programme. Students interested in the IB Track are required to pursue Finance as a major.

The foundation courses are calculus, introductory economics and academic writing. The University core courses are analytical skills and creative thinking, business, government and society, management communication, ethics and social responsibility, leadership and team building, and technology and world change. The business core courses are business law, business processes, finance, financial accounting, management accounting, management of people at work, marketing, management science, introductory statistics or introduction to statistical theory, and strategy. The finance courses are corporate reporting and analysis of financial statements; financial instruments, institutions and markets; and any three electives from: analysis of derivative securities, analysis of equity investments, analysis of fixed-income investments, corporate finance, entrepreneurial finance, international finance, investment banking, and wealth management. Students will need to declare FNCE with track in IBT as their major and take the following courses: Corporate Reporting and Analysis of Financial Statements; Financial Instruments, Institutions and Markets; Investment Banking; Corporate Finance; Entrepreneurial Finance; Any three Finance Electives.

Students must have attained 18 years of age. They should have least 12 years of education and have obtained good passes in a national or international examination that is recognised for the purpose of admission. SAT or ACT (including the writing test) or GMAT (if SAT is not available) scores are required. ACT or GMAT scores must reach SMU by 31 May to be considered. Interview or essay writing for all short-listed students who are not residing in Singapore will be interviewed by telephone. Students from India should have obtained Standard 12 education. Chinese students need to have completed their National College Entrance Examination (Gao Kao) qualification. American students must have earned High School Diploma. Malaysian students must have STPM/UEC qualification. Students from Germany are required to have German Arbitur qualification. Students from United Kingdom must have earned A Levels - Cambridge, Edexel, AQA (good passes in at least three advanced - Level subjects). Students should also have a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), 79 - 80 (internet-based) or an IELTS overall band score of and with Malaysian University English Test (MUET): overall band of at least 5.

The University commenced its curricular instruction in 2000 with a single school - the School of Business. The School opened its doors to its pioneer batch of Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) students in August 2000. A two-storey building was constructed on a piece of land at Evans Road at the fringe of the so-called Bukit Timah Campus, formerly home to tertiary institutions such as the University of Singapore and the National Institute of Education (NIE). The facilities at the premises included five seminar rooms, a media theatre, discussion rooms, a library, a reading room, a conference room, a student' activities room, and faculty and administrative offices. Faculty, staff and students alike maximized the usage of the limited facilities and had a good and enjoyable first year. In its second academic year, the University and the School moved into the extensively renovated Bukit Timah Campus which was equipped with state-of-the-art amenities. The School moved again in 2005 when SMU relocated to the historic Bras Basah district in the heart of the city, a move that brought vitality to an area that once housed several of Singapore's premier schools. The current location at Stamford Road is in close proximity to the business and financial centre of Singapore.

The Singapore Management University has the following hostel facilities: SMU Residences at Prinsep and Accommodation at Havelock. The SMU Residences at Prinsep Street is open to fresh undergraduates uprooted from their home towns, to get used to life in SMU and in Singapore. The residence is in close proximity to Little India, Arab Street, Bugis Junction and the National Library. The hostel is surrounded by museums, theatres, educational institutions, art galleries, cafes, restaurants and a range of retail outlets. The residence consists of three blocks of four-storey apartments in a tropical setting with landscaping and abundant foliage. There are a total of 48 individual apartments. Each has a lounge cum dinning area, equipped with refrigerator and microwave oven, two toilets cum shower and four bedrooms with multi-split air conditioning (two single and two twin sharing bed) which can accommodate up to six residents. Rooms are furnished with a loft bed/study table, wardrobe, towel rail study chairs, waste bins and mattress. Rooms are also equipped with power points, LAN points and circular PL lamps. SMU has recently leased 220 beds of student hostels at Havelock Road from EM Services Pte Ltd (a private hostel operator) and it is open to senior undergraduate students (full-time SMU students second year and above), exchange students and full time post graduate students who plans to study full time at SMU for the forthcoming semester. There are 56 apartments which consist of a common lounge on the 15th floor. Each apartment has a living room (approx.16.68sqm) with a dining table; a kitchen (approx. 3.6sqm) equipped with refrigerator, microwave oven, kettle, electrical hot plate for simple cooking; a toilet cum shower and two bedrooms (approx. 12.95sqm) with air conditioning, two single beds, mattresses, study tables/chairs and wardrobe. The apartment is fully equipped with power points and wireless internet connection.
