This programme is recommended if students: want to obtain an LLB degree of international standing which has provided the first step on a career route for many thousands of practising lawyers worldwide; wish to develop a critical awareness of the common law legal tradition and be able to apply analytical and problem-solving skills in a range of legal and non-legal settings. This programme opens a diverse range of career options at a global level especially within the Commonwealth nations. A law degree in itself is a general qualification which opens up different opportunities for careers. Besides being a practitioner, career options include becoming an in-house counsellor, corporate lawyer, legal consultant as well as careers in the fields of civil defence, investigation, policy formulation, stock broking, insurance underwriting and compliance. This degree is also recommended for those who wish to pursue professional qualifications or a Masters of Laws after graduation. A law degree opens up a vista of career opportunities quite apart from the practice of law.

Students must have obtained a recognised first degree completed in a minimum of three years on a full-time basis. For Access Route, they should have obtained 4 'O' Levels (with English and Maths) or equivalent and some work experience. They should have score of 580 (or 237 on the computer base) in TOEFL plus TWE with a score of 4.5 (or a writing rating of 4.5). Alternatively an internet based TOEFL (iBt) score of 92, at least 22 in both reading and writing skills sub-tests and at least 20 in both speaking and listening skills sub-tests. They should have an overall score of at least 6 with a minimum of 5.5 in each of the four sub-tests of IELTS.
