The programme focuses in providing the underpinning knowledge of business and the specialist knowledge that is required within the industry and hospitality industries. The blend of academic and vocational skills will enhance employability and also allow progression to professional qualifications. The programme recognises the need for graduates to be pro-active and versatile in ways in which they approach new problems and opportunities working from a sound foundation knowledge of knowledge of tourism and hospitality management and development issues. Graduates will possess generic competencies which will enable them to acquire career positions in the tourism and hospitality industries or in the broader service sector of the economy.

Applicants must possess one of the following entrance requirements: GCE 'A' Levels or equivalent or MDIS Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management or other diplomas from recognised polytechnics or institutes or mature candidates (greater than 21 years of age with appropriate work experience) or other qualifications from professional institutes may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Other equivalent qualification may be considered on a case by case basis. Applicants who do not meet the English requirements are required to have a MDIS Professional Certificate in English (PCIE) test or a minimum of band 6.0 with no sub-band below a score of 5.5 in the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) conducted by the British Council or minimum of 550 points (paper–based) or 213 points (computer-based) or 79 points (Internet - based) in the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) conducted by the United States Education and Information Centre.
