In this programme students will learn how mathematics is applied to model economic decisions, make economic forecasts; in general how mathematics is a powerful tool for modeling economic and financial market activities. The curriculum is designed with an emphasis on both depth and breath. The courses in mathematics and economics ensure a solid quantitative grounding in both disciplines while the electives provide students with a choice to concentrate in an area of interest, for example, in applied economics, econometrics or theoretical economics. The programme also provides an excellent coverage of mathematics, statistics and economics that are highly relevant to related disciplines such as actuarial science and finance.

Students will be taking Year 12 national examinations in the year of application in order to be considered for admission and must have completed at least 12 years of general education or equivalent. Submission of IELTS, TOEFL and SAT1 scores are optional except for students with PRC Gao Kao qualification (i.e. students who will be taking Gao Kao in June 2012 and those who have already taken Gao Kao). Scores should be obtained three years prior to the application deadline. Students from India should have obtained Standard XII Qualification and from other countries should have country specific requirements equivalent to Singapore.
