This programme is the functional area of business which focuses on how a company produces, distributes and delivers its goods and services. Every organisation must 'operate' to fulfill its mission and the principles and practices for operating productivity and with high quality are guided by operations management. OM professionals are the one who understand and manage how goods and services flow within the company, and how they flow between the company and the customers. Historically, when OM was emerging as a profession and as an academic area, the focus was on efficient usage of the key physical resources (materials, capital equipment and people) to produce and distribute physical products. As business and operational systems have steadily evolved towards service delivery increasingly enabled by information flows, OM has advanced as well. Modern OM now embraces the management of business processes and the related production, distribution and delivery of goods and service flows of every type. OM principles and practice provide the foundations of supply chain management. In today's economy, supply chains are as important to service and knowledge oriented "production flows" as they are to physical production flows. As a consequence, every other knowledge based functional area of management such as accounting, finance, marketing, sales, product development and procurement make use of OM to organise, produce and distribute their information based 'products and services'. Similarly, OM has become as important to service-based industries such as health care, hospitality and entertainment, media and information distribution, financial services, and government assists has always been to physically based industries such as manufacturing and construction.

The courses include Foundation courses includes: Academic Writing, Calculus and Introductory Economics; University core includes: Analytical Skills and Creative Thinking, Business, Government and Society, Management Communication, Ethics and Social Responsibility, Leadership and Team Building, Technology and World Change; Global and Regional Studies includes: Business Study Mission/Country Studies, International Economics, Political Economy of SEA/East Asia, Economic Development in Asia, Law and International Business, Intellectual Property Rights; Career Skills includes: Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, Work and Family; Information Systems Foundation includes: Seminar on IS Management, IS Software Foundations, Object Oriented Application Development, Data Management and Software Engineering; Information Systems Advanced Topics includes: Process Modelling and Solution Blueprinting, Enterprise Integration, Information Security and Trust, Enterprise Web Solutions and Architectural Analysis; IS Depth electives includes: IS Depth Elective 1 (Any IS Technology Depth Elective), IS Depth Elective 2 (Any IS Technology or IS Management Depth Elective) and IS Depth Elective 3 (Any IS Technology or IS Management Depth Elective).

Students must have attained 18 years of age. They should have least 12 years of education and have obtained good passes in a national or international examination that is recognised for the purpose of admission. SAT or ACT (including the writing test) or GMAT (if SAT is not available) scores are required. ACT or GMAT scores must reach SMU by 31 May to be considered. Interview or essay writing for all short-listed students who are not residing in Singapore will be interviewed by telephone. Students from India should have obtained Standard 12 education. Chinese students need to have completed their National College Entrance Examination (Gao Kao) qualification. American students must have earned High School Diploma. Malaysian students must have STPM/UEC qualification. Students from Germany are required to have German Arbitur qualification. Students from United Kingdom must have earned A Levels - Cambridge, Edexel, AQA (good passes in at least three advanced - Level subjects). International students must fulfill the following English language requirements (minimum scores): TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), 79 - 80 (internet-based) or an IELTS overall band score of 6.5 and with Malaysian University English Test (MUET): overall band of at least 5.
