This programme is designed to specifically prepare participants for the Higher Diploma in Engineering and it provides an avenue for participants who want to formalise their experiences and understanding in the field of engineering. It also reinforces participants’ foundation in mathematics and physics and enhances their problem solving skills and techniques through lectures and tutorials.

The curriculum includes Engineering Mathematics I, Principles of Electrical Engineering, Physics I - Mechanics, Engineering Mathematics II, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, Physics II - Mechanics and Waves.

Applicants must have completed Year 12 education with good grades in Maths and Physics/Science(with Physics component) or equivalent, and at least a C6 pass for English (EL1) as a first language.

The School of Engineering is the latest addition to MDIS. It will open its door to its first batch of students in 2010. The School of Engineering’s mission is to nurture engineering professionals in diverse disciplines through delivering first-class engineering education, teaching excellence and providing opportunity for leadership development. To meet global challenges, the School will be offering two Higher Diploma in Engineering together with the world-renowned university partner, the University of Glasgow. Students, upon completion of their studies in Singapore, will have the option to enroll for a further one or two years of study on-campus in Glasgow to attain the BEng or MEng qualification.

International students should make the accommodation arrangement before they leave the homeland. There is a wide variety of accommodation options in Singapore and the type of accommodation you choose will depend on your personal budget. International students can approach MDIS for assistance on the accommodation arrangement. The Institute plan to develop the hostel within the premises and this project is part of the overall development plan to create a self-contained integrated campus for the international students. The new hostel will have 782 rooms and up to 14 suites, a 495-seat lecture theatre and an 11-stall cafeteria with a seating capacity of up to 600. The integrated hostel will be ready by 2010.
