This course is specifically designed for participants to be relevant to social service workers and to assist them to be able to use narrative practices in their work contexts. Narrative approaches to social service delivery centre people as the experts in their own lives and view problems as separate from people. Narrative approaches assume that people have many skills, competencies, beliefs, values, commitments and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives. Students must also complete written project; consultations via phone/skype; tape supervision; group supervision; oral presentation of projects; and reading and writing program.

The modules are Introduction to Narrative Therapy; Narrative Therapy with Couple Relationships; Creative Narrative Practice with Children, Young People and their Families; Narrative Ways of Working with Groups and Communities; and Narrative Therapy in Responding to Trauma.

Applicants for the programme must be working or volunteering in an environment where they are able to apply narrative therapy on their clients. Applicants for stand-alone modules need not meet this entry requirement.
