In this course students have the opportunity to apply electronic principles to solve many practical problems and make life better and easier for humans. They learn how to install, maintain and troubleshoot faults in electronics systems and equipment and perform simple electronics design work. The graduates are also employed by other manufacturing sectors that use electronically-controlled production machines. There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to prepare themselves by upgrading their technical skills and knowledge through higher-level courses.

Students must have completed GCE 'O' level passes in English language (grade 1-8), mathematics (grade 1-7 elementary or additional) and approved science subject (grade 1-8) or GCE 'N(A)' level passes with grade 1-4 in English language and mathematics; and three other subjects (grade 1-5) and a total of 19 points or less for English, mathematics and three other subjects (ELMAB3). Students must ensure that they do not suffer from colour appreciation deficiency.
