This programme is concerned with the means which an organisation effectively and efficiently plans, collects, organises, uses, controls, disseminates and disposes of its information resources, thereby maximizing their value for the organisation. It is also the interdisciplinary study of information content, representation, technology and applications, and the methods and strategies for managing and using information in organisations, networks, cultures and societies. Graduates are employed extensively to support information management and Information Professionals with a range of hard and soft skills are needed to manage information and resources, as well as to design and manage information systems that support users' information needs and tasks, and to help the organization to flourish in a knowledge-based environment. Graduates can find career opportunities as records manager, documents manager, information analyst, research analyst, business intelligence analyst, information mining specialist, information architect, system analyst, web and intranet manager, web site/portal developer, digital library and institutional repository developer, user interface designer, usability engineer, information products developer, user support services manager, it training specialist, information manager, archivist, special collections librarian and digital preservation specialist. In this option, students take three core subjects, two electives from Group A, another four electives from either Group A or Group B, and a project on which the student must submit a dissertation.

अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय विद्यार्थीहरू प्रवेशको लागि आवश्यकता

Students should have completed a bachelor's degree in any discipline. Students in the programme come from a wide variety of academic backgrounds such as engineering, science, business and accountancy, arts and social science, education. Preference is given to students with some of the following attributes: good undergraduate academic performance at a reputable university, good written and spoken communication in English, working experience in an information-related field, maturity and breadth of thinking and experience, passion and interest in the information studies field. International students whose undergraduate education was not in the English medium and who are not able to attend an interview in Singapore are encouraged to take the IELTS or TOEFL test. Though an IELTS/TOEFL score is still optional for admission, preference is given to applicants with IELTS score of 6.0 and above, or TOEFL of 570 and above.
