This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to prepare layout plans, constructional drawings, presentation drawings, illustrations and graphics using manual and computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) software for tenders, and construction, and presentation packages to communicate designer's concepts and ideas to clients. Graduates are employed by government departments, statutory boards and private companies in the building and construction sector. They perform a crucial role of ensuring the layout plans, constructional drawings, presentation drawings, illustrations and graphics are produced for tenders, and construction, and presentation packages to communicate designer's concepts and ideas to clients. Some of the job titles held by graduates include assistant interior designer, draftsman, junior designer and designer. There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.

The modules include: Drawing and Design Foundation, Building Drawing, Construction Drawing, Presentation Package, Design Elements, Residential Space, Commercial and Exhibition Space, Project, Life Skills for Personal Development, Life Skills at the Workplace, Sports and Wellness I, Sports and Wellness II, Heat Load and ETTV, Technical Mathematics, Business Fundamentals, Communicative English (Level 7 to 8), English Language 'O' I to IV, Mathematics (Level 9 and 10), Mathematics 'O' I to IV, Overseas Experiential Programme.

Students should have completed GCE 'O' level grades (1 - 8) in any two subjects; or GCE 'N' level passes in mathematics and two other subjects (Grade A - D or 1 - 5). Students applying for this course must ensure that they do not have colour-appreciation deficiency and must attend an interview and pass a drawing test for admission.
