The main aim of the course is to provide a thorough understanding of the key areas of accounting and financial management for non accounting graduates; students learn to apply and critically assess a wide range of accounting and financial theories; a key distinctive feature is the emphasis that is placed on not just the learning of the relevant techniques in each subject area, but on their application; hence a strong emphasis is placed on analysis and interpretation using case study and live company analysis.

The programme structure is as follows: principles of financial reporting; contemporary issues in financial reporting for complex entities; management accounting and decision making 1; management accounting and decision making 2; applied financial management; valuation analysis and risk management; auditing; research methods in management; plus a dissertation of 20000 words in any area of accounting or financial management.
