This degree aims to equips students with a thorough grounding in modern cryptography (the key component technology underlying almost all computer security); students also study aspects of security of practical systems, protocols and security standards; the security components of the programme are augmented by programmes in how networks of computers communicate and are put together into systems; students are equipped for a wide variety of employment in the computing industry, and wider fields such as commerce and banking; the programme also gives students the knowledge and experience to continue studying for a PhD, or to enter a career in research.
