Advertising is 1 of the most influential sources of creative ideas in popular culture; the course combines a critical examination of the impact of advertising messages with practical projects that develop hands on creative skills, the programme prepares students for a rewarding career in advertising, brand management, corporate communications and/or public relations; the journalism course has a strong emphasis on the use of electronic media and allows students to develop a wide range of skills; during the final year, single honours students may produce a journalism project of significant size and scope (for example, a magazine); all single honours and some combined students research and prepare a written dissertation on a journalism related topic.
