Research areas include: Animal production (nutrition reproduction interactions in dairy cows and sheep; ovarian function including cryopreservation); crop science (sustainability, efficient production and enhancing yield); rural resources management and economics (climate change adaptation and mitigation of greenhouse gases, sustainability and profitability; integer and risk programming models; cultivation and cropping strategies); environmental modelling (fate of pollutants in the environment; modelling abiotic stresses and crop growth); ecosystem carbon and nutrient cycling (impacts of environmental change on ecosystem processes in natural and semi-natural ecosystems, soil organic carbon chemistry and CO2 emissions, trace gas fluxes in Arctic ecosystems, carbon storage in tropical wetlands); soil science and geochemistry (isotopic dilution techniques to characterise the reactivity and solubility of soil metals and metalloids); opportunities in atmospheric environment (use of dispersion models to predict the concentrations of atmospheric pollutants; bacterial control of methane emissions from landfill).
