Applicants start with a package of relevant, compulsory courses in Applied Linguistics and Research Methods courses and at the same time begin work on their own research project, which leads to a thesis; in Years 1 and 2 applicants attend a series of four brief, intensive residentials in Lancaster for courses, resource consultation, supervision and other academic support.
