The course offers the flexibility to study and continue in work; it also values students' personal experience as an important precursor to a broader multi-disciplinary and theoretical understanding of the lives of children and young people; provides a route to professional qualification for students wishing to work within the 'working with young people sector', providing opportunities to build on existing knowledge, skills and experiences; develops students specific knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that enhances and enriches professional practice across the sector; provides opportunities for students to contextualise their work with young people within the multi-agency and multi-disciplinary approaches and locate current academic debates within children and youth services locally, regionally as well as national.
