Students study how to use engineering expertise to analyse and solve problems in biology and medicine; applicants explore how engineering and bioengineering combine in the application of engineering principles to human health; year 1 includes an introduction to the relevant fundamentals; in year 2 students start to specialise in either biomedical engineering, biomaterials science and tissue engineering, biological and systems bioprocessing, or medical devices and systems; students spend a year working in an engineering, medical or healthcare company after the 2nd year of academic study; in year 3 students complete an individual project on a topic related to a chosen specialism.
