Research takes place within centre and associated university departments of anatomy, experimental psychology, medicine, medical genetics, neurology, veterinary medicine; interests focus on mechanisms of neural development plus those causing brain damage or degeneration, and strategies to limit such damage or promote repair; technical interests include: cellular and molecular studies on neurons and glia; techniques for promoting brain repair (including growth factors and brain grafts); methods for assessing brain damage, both experimentally and clinically (including imaging); areas of research include: development; degeneration; regeneration; implantation; assessment; application; cross-disciplinary research is encouraged with students having 2 supervisors from different but overlapping disciplines who devise individual programmes of coursework for students during the 1st year; in addition to the course fee (University Composition fee) students may have to pay a college fee.
