You will learn the skills and knowledge you need to develop your career at a supervisory level in the hospitality and events industry or what you need to progress on to higher education. This interesting course combines both practical and theory work and is suitable if you are focused on a management career in a hotel, restaurant, events, a licensed premise, a catering outlet or on cruise ships. You will study 18 units, nine in the first year and nine in the second year, covering three areas of learning: � Practical training in the college�s kitchens and restaurant, including customer service, food service operations, alcoholic beverages, European and world food, and supervisory skills. � Business studies, including financial control, marketing and human resources. � Industry specific subjects, such as accommodation operations, event organisation and event management. You will go on visits to industry, listen to guest speakers and have the opportunity to design and run your own restaurant concept. You will have the opportunity to take an additional level 2 qualification in barista skills to enhance your employability.
