If you want to develop your skills and understanding in sport, this course is for you. You learn about management, organisation and development of sport. There will be opportunities to take part in team sports and to take other related awards, including emergency first aid, fitness instructor at level 1 and 2, and Community Sport Leaders Award level 1.
The course covers 12 units over two years and you will achieve the equivalent of two A-levels at grade A*-E, topics will include:
- principals of anatomy and physiology in sport;
- the physiology of fitness;
- assessing risk in sport;
- fitness training and programming;
- practical team sports;
- leadership in sport;
- exercise, health and lifestyle;
- sports coaching;
- sports development;
- sports injuries;
- rules, regulations and officiating in sport; and
- work experience in sport.
