The business and management course enables students to develop a broad understanding of management in the business context; students develop the skills to analyse management issues in relation to company priorities, staff needs and external factors, and be introduced to current perceptions of good management practice; mathematics gives students a broad and integrated introduction to the basic mathematics that should be known by a mathematics graduate; a thorough knowledge of mathematics is essential for a complete understanding of the sciences, and has become increasingly important with the development of new areas of application in the physical and biological sciences, engineering and social studies.
