This course involves using model building to pose new hypotheses about how cells integrate and control many different gene products to produce well-organised tissues.
कार्यक्रमका खाकाहरू
1st semester: foundation molecular biology or molecular microbiology or drug metabolism and toxicology or introductory immunology; introduction to mathematics and modelling of biological systems or bio-computing or non-linear dynamics; regulation and control in cellular metabolism; genomes and functional genomics; 2nd semester: research project biological modelling; systems biology research tutorials and systems data manipulation; modelling theory; biological modelling; principles and practice; 3rd semester: research project and Master's dissertation; in the 3rd semester through a series of laboratory-based experiments, students begin to work in the laboratories of the Institute of Medical Sciences to validate a mathematical model that they developed during 2nd semester in the �research project biological modelling� course; they work under the dual guidance of 2 members of staff, a biologist and physical scientist (theoretician); further model development and validation iterative cycles are carried out as understanding of the biological systems is developed during the course of the lab project.
