This course is primarily aimed at those employed in the construction industries who are seeking to gain an industry recognised qualification. It provides one of the key qualifications in the construction management, surveying and architectural technology disciplines. The essential aim of the course is to provide students with a range of knowledge and skills needed to fulfill a wide range of technical and managerial work. The outcome should be technicians who are able to tackle and take responsibility for well specified positions throughout the construction industry. This course will consist of the following: professional skills and communications, levelling and setting out, construction technology 1, information management, structures and construction science, materials science, measurement and documentation, law, construction technology 2, and environmental science. On completion of this course students can move towards professional status by progressing to the BSc (Hons) courses offered in surveying i.e. property or commercial management, construction management or architectural technology, at the partner university, London South Bank University, or to other universities. Students may also take up employment and progress through the professional bodies’ assessment process.
