Creative writing: The course covers 3 genre strands, fiction, poetry and scriptwriting; students learn to read as a writer, to study the craft of published writers and alongside these disciplines, to develop, through reflective writing, their own creative writing skills and personal philosophy of composition; students also gain insights into the processes of publishing, broadcasting and performing.History: The course looks at historical and contemporary issues and themes while ensuring considerable freedom of choice; students develop a whole range of historical and career-oreinted skills, while learning about the past's historical relationship with the very complex world of the present day; students can specialise in British political, social or economic history, European or American history; the modules emphasise the importance of historical understanding and interpretation of source materials.
