This course focuses on the educational, social and emotional development of children from birth to 8 years of age; students gain an appreciation of how children think and learn and identify the role of the adult in facilitating this learning through a range of strategies; theoretical aspects of learning are studied and students gain an understanding of children's physical, intellectual, emotional, social and language development; for the music component a wide range of styles and cultures, from jazz to contemporary, and classical are studied; practical and research skills can be combined with an exciting investigation into how important music education is and the innovative and creative ways that education in music can be shared; instrumental and vocal tuition is provided for all musicians as part of the course.
