The education course allows students to combine the academic study of education with another subject; in effect, it's a combined Honours degree: students take specialised papers offered by the Faculty of Education, that cover the study of education: history, philosophy, psychology and sociology, as well as global issues in education, while also taking papers from the relevant faculty for an accompanying subject.

Year 1: Education studies: introductory course; philosophy of education; psychology of education; sociology of education; animal behaviour; ecology; cell biology; genetics; plant biology; animal physiology; statistics for biology; ecology field courses; the nature of science and history of science. Year 2: Modern history of education; biology of cells and biology of organisms from 1A of the Cambridge Natural Science Tripos or 2 from animal biology; plant biology; ecology from 1B of the Cambridge Natural Science Tripos and physical sciences for biologist; bioethnics and human evolution. Year 3: Research and investigation in education; an advanced topic in education studies; 1 or 2 further papers; 1 or 2 further papers from a wide range of papers available through the University of Cambridge School of the Biological Sciences, or to concentrate entirely on education studies.
