The education course allows students to combine the academic study of education with another subject; therefore, in effect, it's a combined Honours degree: students take specialised papers offered by the Faculty of Education, that cover the study of education: history, philosophy, psychology and sociology as well as global issues in education, while also taking papers from the relevant faculty for their accompanying subject.

Year 1: Options include: history of education; philosophy of education; psychology of education; sociology of education; and introduction to Christianity as a world religion; introduction to New Testament; gospels and Christian theology; introduction to Judaism; Hinduism; people, place and pacts (Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism); study of religion; suffering; truth and dialogue; religious education; teaching Christianity; teaching world religions. Year 2: Students continue to study the philosophy, psychology, sociology and history of education alongside courses from their other subject; 2 or 3 tripos papers in for example, Christian origins; Jesus; Hinduism and Buddhism; Islam; Judaism; ethics; theology and science etc; women's voices in religion; children in faith traditions; planning RE in schools. Year 3: Students may choose to study 1 or 2 further papers in religious studies from those available through the Faculty of Divinity, or to concentrate entirely on education studies; all students take the research and investigation in education paper, leading to an individual enquiry�based study of an educational and to the submission of a 10,000 word dissertation; students must also take a minimum of 2 further education papers, at least 1 of which must be an Advanced Discipline in education (in either philosophy, psychology, sociology or history of education); the other compulsory education paper can be either a 2nd Advanced Discipline or a Special Paper in education, those currently available include: Children and Literature; Educational Inclusion and Diversity; and Creativity and Thinking; 4th and 5th papers may be taken from any of the education papers (both Advanced Disciplines and Special Papers) or may be taken in the students specialist subject.
