This course combines technical, engineering and mathematical skills with information communication technology, management and finance, and has core modules in common with a number of the university's other electronics degrees in the first 2 years; this means that students can change their degree course to one of the other areas after the second year, if they wish.

Years 1 and 2: Core modules; electrical and electronic principles; electronics; mathematics for engineers; introduction to embedded systems; engineering applications; engineering health, safety and welfare; electrical principles, methods and simulation; power, machines and control; signals and digital communications; further mathematics; design and configuration of embedded systems; business and finance for engineers. Year 3: Industrial placement. Year 4: Core modules; power electronics and drives; control systems design; telecommunication systems; electronics design; individual project.
