The Electronic Engineering programme emphasises the need for technical competence combined with flexibility of mind and develops multi-skilled modern professional engineers; students can take an industrial placement in the vacation prior to the start of the 3rd year (6-10 weeks, subject to suitable arrangements) which is then followed by an extended individual project during the 3rd year, specifically designed around the industrial placement; the combined placement and project allows students to undertake paid vacation work while gaining relevant industrial experience; Computer Science develops problem-solving skills, technical competence and an ability to analyse and reflect on issues relating to computer technology; the course also covers working with business information technology (IT) systems, the web, mobile communications or games technology, management and development of the safety-critical systems.
