English language: The course introduces major aspects of English language: its structure, sound system and variation in addition to social issues, such as the implications of accent and dialect; promoting understanding of the relationship between the English language and society; Language matters encourages extended engagement with language variety and variation; students also focus on various aspects of the history of the English language; world development; communicating sexuality; computers and English language research.History: The course looks at historical and contemporary issues and themes while ensuring considerable freedom of choice; students develop a whole range of historical and career-oreinted skills, while learning about the past's historical relationship with the very complex world of the present day; students can specialise in British political, social or economic history, European or American history; the modules emphasise the importance of historical understanding and interpretation of source materials.The course is weighted 75% major and 25% minor subjects.
