English literature: This course introduces students to recent theoretical and critical approaches, as well as offering a range of modules that include different periods, genres and topics; students have the opportunity to study both 'classic' texts and popular writing.Creative writing: The course covers 3 genre strands, fiction, poetry and scriptwriting; students learn to read as a writer, to study the craft of published writers and alongside these disciplines, to develop, through reflective writing, their own creative writing skills and personal philosophy of composition; students also gain insights into the processes of publishing, broadcasting and performing.The course is weighted 75% major and 25% minor subjects.
