This degree programme gives a hands-on experience of an event right from day 1; students graduate from this event management degree with knowledge and practical experience of running an event, with key business skills; first year modules include topics such as events in practice, managing budgets, links between leisure, structure and society, and marketing; in the second year, students study event planning, people management skills, how to manage leisure operations, and the social, cultural, economic and physical impacts of tourism and events; in the final year students explore areas such as contemporary issues in events, direct and electronic marketing, strategic issues in visitor management and technology for the leisure sector; teaching methods include research-led teaching; real-time business experiences and guest lectures from industry practitioners.
